How this review was prepared

This is a research-based review. I checked Promptwatch's current pricing page, product pages and MCP and API documentation, then assessed what those published limits mean for a buyer. I have not presented vendor claims as personal testing.

The Verdict

Is Promptwatch right for you?

Promptwatch is an AI visibility tracker that goes beyond mention counts, adding AI crawler logs and content generation to its prompt tracking.

Essential is $95 a month for 50 prompts and 6,000 responses, Professional is $245 for 150 prompts and Business is $579 for 350 prompts. A free Explore tier exists, and MCP and API access is listed on every plan.

It fits teams that want to connect AI visibility data to assistants and scripts. It fits poorly when you need a large prompt count cheaply, since prompts are capped per plan.

Who It's For

Who Promptwatch is for (and who it isn't)

✓ Best for

  • +
Teams that want assistants to query and manage GEO data. The official MCP server supports OAuth or an API key and lists read and write tools, including creating prompts and content. A v2 REST API and OpenAPI specs are published.
  • +
Marketers who want a free start. The pricing page lists a free tier, and third-party reviews report it tracks ChatGPT only. Essential adds a 7-day free trial.
  • +
Teams that want site-side evidence of AI crawlers. Plans list crawler log allowances and agent analytics, so you can see which AI bots reach your pages, not only what answers say.

What You Can Do

What can Promptwatch do?

Track prompts across AI models

Add prompts and watch visibility, sentiment and citations across the tracked models. Each plan splits responses across prompts and models.

Find and close content gaps

Use citation and content-gap views to see which sources AI answers cite instead of you, then draft content with the built-in generator.

Check AI crawler activity

Crawler logs and agent analytics show which AI bots visit your site. Log allowances are listed per plan.

Drive it from an assistant or script

Connect Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor over MCP, or call the v2 REST API, to query visibility and manage prompts.

AI, API & MCP

Does Promptwatch Have an MCP Server, API and AI Features?

Promptwatch exposes an official MCP server and a full REST API, and both include write operations.

AI agent workflow

A safe agent workflow

Let an assistant read visibility and citation data, propose prompts and draft content, then review before anything is created or published.

Approval boundary: The tool list includes deleting prompts and publishing content live. Keep those behind a human approval and use a scoped API key.

Promptwatch has a free Explore tier, and paid plans run $95, $245 and $579 a month.

Check Promptwatch's current pricing →

Promptwatch prices by projects, prompts and monthly responses. The pricing page shows USD with a EUR toggle and an annual option whose rates were not itemised in my read. Responses equal prompts times tracked models times days, so the response cap is a direct result of the prompt cap.

What each plan includes

Essential: 1 project, 50 prompts, 6,000 responses a month, 1 seat. Professional: 2 projects, 150 prompts, 18,000 responses, 2 seats. Business: 5 projects, 350 prompts, 42,000 responses, 5 seats. Enterprise is custom.

Content and crawler allowances differ by source

The pricing page lists monthly article and crawler-log allowances per plan, but my read of the page and the earlier record disagree on the article counts, so confirm them before buying for content volume.

Trial

Essential lists a 7-day free trial. Business shows demo booking instead.

Three different buying priorities, and what I'd pick instead for each one.

Downsides

Limitations to consider before subscribing

!

Prompts are capped by plan

Essential covers 50 prompts and Professional 150, so multi-client tracking needs the higher plans.

!

Free tier is narrow

Third-party reviews report the free tier tracks ChatGPT only, and its limits were not on the pricing page copy I read.

!

Write tools raise the stakes

The MCP server can delete prompts and publish content, so key scope and approvals matter.

!

Annual rates and allowances unclear

Annual pricing was not itemised, and article allowances differed between my sources.

!

Model count varies by plan page

The pricing page lists four models per plan while its materials name more platforms, so confirm which models your plan tracks.

My Recommendation

Should You Choose Promptwatch?

Shortlist Promptwatch if you want AI visibility tracking with crawler logs, content generation and MCP or API access from a low entry price.

Choose Otterly.AI for the cheapest start, Peec AI for a simple dashboard, or Profound for enterprise depth.

What to check during the trial

  • –Count the prompts you need and pick the plan that covers them.
  • –Confirm which AI models your plan tracks.
  • –Test the MCP server with a scoped API key, read tools first.
  • –Check article and crawler-log allowances on the live pricing page.
