Chatfuel Pricing: Free Chatfuel Light, Then $69/mo for AI PRO

Chatfuel keeps its pricing simple: one free plan (Chatfuel Light) and one paid tier (AI PRO at $69/month , or $49/month billed yearly ). Watch the toggle: the pricing page opens on the yearly tab, so the $49 you see first is the annual rate.

Everything in Chatfuel Light plus the AI sales manager, AI knowledge base, AI-powered automations, broadcasts and re-engagement, lead-qualification funnels and advanced contact tools. Free trial available, length not published. The pricing page opens on the yearly tab, so $49 is the annual equivalent and $69 is the monthly rate. Usage limits apply per Chatfuel's plan limits page.

Free plan available

Chatfuel Light is free and includes WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook automations, a shared inbox, a flow builder, contact segmentation, and ready-made templates. It doesn't include any of the AI-specific tools (sales manager, knowledge base, AI automations) that live behind the AI PRO paywall.

Recommendation

Which plan should you choose?

+
Chatfuel LightSolo business owners testing chat automation for the first time

You get automations across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook plus a flow builder, all for free, before you decide if AI-driven selling is worth $69/month.

+
AI PROEcommerce brands running WhatsApp or Instagram sales through DMs

The AI sales manager and lead-qualification funnels are built for handling repetitive sales conversations at volume, which Chatfuel Light doesn't cover.

+
AI PROAgencies managing bookings or re-engagement campaigns for clients

Broadcasts and re-engagement tools plus advanced contact management make this the tier built for ongoing client work, not one-off replies.

+
Chatfuel Light, until usage limits are confirmedAnyone with tight or unpredictable message volume

Since AI PRO's usage caps sit on a separate limits page and there's no trial to test them, it's worth confirming those numbers with Chatfuel support before paying $69/month.

Editorial

My take on Chatfuel pricing

Joonas Rotko
Joonas RotkoAuthor & founder of That Marketing Buddy

The gap between Chatfuel Light and AI PRO is steep: free to $69/month, with nothing in between. That's a bigger jump than tools like Tidio or Landbot, which tend to ease you in with a cheaper starter tier before the AI features kick in.

What bugs me is the usage limits. Chatfuel's own notes say limits apply per its plan limits page, but that page isn't part of the pricing table you see up front. If you're running WhatsApp broadcasts for a busy ecommerce store, you need to know your message caps before you commit $69/month, not after you hit a wall mid-campaign.

There's a free trial on AI PRO but no published money-back guarantee. Compare that to Chatbase, which at least gives you a free plan to poke at the AI layer before paying. With Chatfuel, you either stay on Light (no AI tools) or pay full price on day one to find out if the AI sales manager actually handles your use case.

Verdict

Is Chatfuel Worth the Price?

For a business that's already selling through WhatsApp or Instagram DMs and drowning in repetitive questions, $69/month for an AI sales manager and lead-qualification funnels isn't a hard number to justify. For someone who just wants basic auto-replies on Facebook Messenger, Chatfuel Light probably covers it without ever touching AI PRO. The unresolved question is volume.

The pricing page does not publish a usage cap, and the limits page only says unlimited contacts with fair-use AI limits. There is a free trial and a permanently free plan to test with, but neither tells you where the ceiling sits, so you're committing to the $69/month tier on faith that it covers your message volume.

If you run high-traffic WhatsApp campaigns, it's worth emailing Chatfuel support for the actual limit numbers before you subscribe, rather than finding out mid-billing-cycle.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Chatfuel Light is free and includes WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook automations, a shared inbox, a flow builder, contact segmentation, and ready-made templates.

AI PRO is $69/month on monthly billing, or $49/month billed yearly, which Chatfuel advertises as 29% off. Worth knowing the pricing page opens on the yearly tab, so the $49 you see first is the annual rate, not the monthly one.

Yes. AI PRO's button reads "Start free trial", though Chatfuel does not publish the trial length anywhere. There's also a permanently free Chatfuel Light plan, so you can test the automation basics without a trial clock at all.

No. There's no money-back guarantee listed for either plan, so weigh the AI PRO features carefully before upgrading.

Chatfuel Light covers standard automations across WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook with a shared inbox and flow builder. AI PRO adds an AI sales manager, AI knowledge base, AI-powered automations, broadcasts, re-engagement tools, and lead-qualification funnels on top of everything in Light.

Yes, usage limits apply per Chatfuel's separate plan limits page. The main pricing page doesn't spell out exact message or contact caps, so it's worth checking that page or contacting Chatfuel directly before committing.

It depends on the comparison. Some competitors, like those covered in my AI chatbots for lead generation roundup, offer cheaper entry-level paid tiers or a free AI plan, so it's worth comparing feature sets against the $69/month AI PRO price rather than assuming Chatfuel is the budget option.
