How to Use SE Ranking with Claude: 5-Minute MCP Setup, 160+ Tools

SE Ranking runs an official MCP server, and it is the most generous one in SEO software right now: 160+ tools, included on every paid plan, connected to Claude in about five minutes. No enterprise tier required, no separate API bill. I verified everything in this guide against SE Ranking's live documentation on July 7, 2026.

What can Claude do with SE Ranking connected?

Once connected, Claude can call SE Ranking's data and project tools directly in a conversation. The server exposes 160+ tools across keyword research, rank tracking, backlink analysis, domain analysis, website audits, SERP analysis, AI search visibility, and project management. That last one matters: this is not read-only. Claude can work inside your projects, not just quote numbers at you.

Concrete things I would actually ask it:

• Which of my tracked keywords dropped more than 3 positions this week, and what changed in those SERPs?
• Pull the backlink gap between my domain and my two biggest competitors, and rank the opportunities by domain trust.
• Run a technical audit summary and give me the five issues that are actually worth fixing first.
• How visible is my brand in AI search results this month compared to last?

Each of those used to be twenty minutes of clicking through dashboards and exporting CSVs. As a conversation, it is one sentence and a short wait.

How to connect SE Ranking to Claude (Desktop and web)

You need two things: a paid SE Ranking plan (any tier) and a paid Claude plan (custom connectors are a paid-plan feature). Then:

• In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, and click Add custom connector.
• Name it SE Ranking.
• Paste the server URL: https://api.seranking.com/mcp
• Click Add, then Connect. A browser window opens and you sign in to your SE Ranking account.

That sign-in step is OAuth 2.1, which is the part I like most about this setup. No API key to generate, copy, or accidentally paste into a public repo. You authorize once, and the token stays scoped to your account. Sub-account users can alternatively use an API key from their account administrator if OAuth is not an option.

How to connect SE Ranking to Claude Code

One line in your terminal:

Then run /mcp inside a Claude Code session to authenticate. Same OAuth flow, same account scoping. SE Ranking also documents setup for Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Windsurf, Zed, and Gemini CLI, so whatever your coding agent of choice is, it is probably covered.

SE Ranking publishes first-party setup guides for Cursor, VS Code, Codex, Windsurf, Zed, v0, and Gemini CLI. The pattern is the same everywhere: add https://api.seranking.com/mcp as a remote HTTP server, authenticate via the OAuth browser flow, done. For Codex and Cursor this means your SEO data is available while you build: an agent fixing technical issues can check the audit findings it is fixing against, without leaving the editor.

One honest gap: SE Ranking does not publish a ChatGPT setup guide yet. If your team lives in ChatGPT rather than Claude, Semrush and ActiveCampaign document that path; SE Ranking currently documents everything else.

This is the part no other SEO vendor is doing yet. Honest limits

• Data limits still apply. MCP calls draw on the same plan limits as the dashboard. A Core plan has Core-plan quotas whether a human or an agent is asking.
• Claude needs a paid plan. Custom connectors are not available on Claude's free tier.
• Write access deserves respect. Because project management tools are exposed, Claude can change things, not just read them. Review what it proposes before you let it reorganize a client project.
• It is early. The Skills shipped recently and the MCP surface keeps expanding. Expect occasional rough edges, and check SE Ranking's docs for the current tool list.

Verdict

SE Ranking is currently the strongest agent-readiness story in SEO software: official MCP, OAuth sign-in, write access, vendor-maintained Skills, and no plan gating. That combination earned it an 8/10 agent-readiness score in my scoring, ahead of suites that cost three times as much. If you want your SEO data working inside Claude rather than trapped in a dashboard, this is the cheapest legitimate way to get there.
