Which plan should you choose?

+
StandardSolo marketer or single-brand manager

10 social accounts and AI drafting tools cover a single brand's needs without paying for team workflows you won't use.

+
ProfessionalSmall team handling client inboxes

Unlimited accounts and automated inbox replies matter once one person is fielding messages across multiple brands or clients.

+
AdvancedAgency with a content approval chain

Approval workflows and auto-routed assignments solve the specific problem of content sitting in limbo waiting for sign-off.

+
EnterpriseRegulated industry or large org needing SSO

Compliance solutions and SSO aren't available on any self-serve tier, so this is the only path if legal or IT requires them.

There's no free tier, and $99/mo per user billed annually is a heavy commitment for someone managing 2-3 accounts. Tools with a free plan like Buffer are worth checking first.

Editorial

My take on Hootsuite pricing

Joonas Rotko
Joonas RotkoAuthor & founder of That Marketing Buddy

The number that sticks with me here is per user. $99/mo for Standard sounds close to what Buffer or Publer charge for a whole team plan, but Hootsuite charges that per seat. Add a second teammate and you're at nearly $200/mo just to get two people into the same 10-account workspace.

The feature list at each tier is specific enough to evaluate honestly. AI-generated posts and images plus a unified inbox on Standard is a real starting point, not a teaser. Professional's 90-day trend forecasting and automated inbox workflows are the kind of thing that actually saves hours once a week hits, not just a checkbox feature.

What bugs me is the transparency gap on monthly billing. Hootsuite states monthly billing exists but won't publish the rate, which means the only number you can plan around is the annual-committed one. If you're comparing tools like WoopSocial or Postiz that post their monthly rates upfront, Hootsuite makes you do extra legwork just to know what you'd pay without a 12-month commitment.

Annual Billing

All published Hootsuite prices ($99, $199, $399 per user) are already the annual-billed rate. Monthly billing is offered but Hootsuite doesn't state that rate publicly, so you'd need to check out or contact sales to see the difference.

Verdict

Is Hootsuite Worth the Price?

If you're an agency with an approval chain, multiple accounts, and a need for SSO down the line, the per-seat cost buys structure that a cheaper tool won't have. A five-person team standardizing on Advanced ends up paying around $2,000/mo, which only makes sense if content approval and team performance tracking are actively solving a bottleneck you have today.

If you're managing one or two brand accounts solo, $99/mo per user billed annually with no free plan is a hard number to justify next to tools in the 13 Best AI-Native Social Media Automation Tools roundup that start free or under $30/mo.

The 14-day trial is your only way to test the AI drafting and inbox tools before committing to annual billing, since Hootsuite won't tell you the monthly rate upfront.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Hootsuite doesn't offer a free plan. Every tier, Standard, Professional, Advanced, and Enterprise, requires payment after the 14-day free trial ends.

Standard is $99/mo per user billed annually, Professional is $199/mo per user billed annually, and Advanced is $399/mo per user billed annually. Enterprise pricing is custom and requires contacting sales.

Hootsuite says monthly billing is available, but it doesn't publish the monthly rate anywhere on its pricing page. The published $99, $199, and $399 figures are all annual-billed rates, so you'd need to check out or talk to sales to see the monthly price.

No. Hootsuite doesn't offer a money-back guarantee on any plan. The 14-day free trial is the only way to test the platform before paying.

The numerals stay the same, but the currency changes by region. Visitors browsing from the EU see the same figures rendered in EUR rather than USD.

Enterprise adds advanced analytics, advanced social/digital/AI listening, single sign-on (SSO), and custom compliance solutions. Pricing isn't published and requires a custom quote from Hootsuite's sales team.

Not directly. Standard caps you at 10 social accounts, while Professional and Advanced offer unlimited accounts. Pricing scales by number of users (seats), not by number of connected accounts.
