Mailjet MCP Server

Yes. Mailjet's MCP runs from a single npx command with no clone step, which makes it the least painful local install among the Sinch email brands.

What is the Mailjet MCP server?

Mailjet ships an MCP server published on npm as @mailjet/mailjet-mcp-server, maintained in the same GitHub organization as Mailgun's (both are Sinch brands). It runs locally over stdio, and unlike Mailgun's clone-and-install flow it starts from a single npx command with nothing to check out first.

Coverage spans Mailjet's contact, campaign, segmentation, statistics and workflow APIs, exposed as a standard tool interface for clients such as Claude Desktop. That is the marketing side of the product rather than just transactional sending.

Configuration is one block in your client config: the npx command plus a MAILJET_API_KEY environment variable holding your key and secret joined with a colon. There is no hosted endpoint and no OAuth, so the credential lives in that config file.

Access, auth, and limits

Auth combines your API key and secret into one MAILJET_API_KEY value formatted as key:secret, passed through the environment. That pair is a full-access credential, so treat the config file holding it as a secret and keep it out of any repository. There is no scoping mechanism and no read-only mode.

Because it runs over stdio there is no URL to connect to. Directory entries showing a GitHub URL as Mailjet's MCP endpoint are pointing at the source repository. Running through npx means you pick up new versions automatically, which is a small maintenance advantage over Mailgun's cloned checkout.

Does Mailjet MCP cost extra?

Included with subscription

Mailjet ships an official MCP server that uses your existing subscription credentials.

  • No separate MCP licence to buy. You pay for your Mailjet plan, the MCP server queries that account.
  • Whether it's gated to a specific tier wasn't extracted automatically — verify the access requirements on the MCP page or pricing docs.

Mailjet also publishes a REST API

Mailjet publishes an API, but per-tier gating wasn't extracted automatically.

What you can do with Mailjet from an AI agent

Three shapes of agent workflow. Pick the row that matches how you actually use Claude / Cursor / Codex day to day.

INDIE / SOLO

Skip the dashboard, ask Claude

  • "What campaigns underperformed this week?" answered in seconds
  • Quick one-off questions without leaving the editor
  • Pipe Mailjet data into your personal notes / docs without writing a script
Effort: 30 seconds — paste the config, restart Claude
AGENCY

Run client analysis at agent speed

  • Hand the MCP server to your team — every consultant can ask Claude about any client's Mailjet account
  • Multi-account workflows without context-switching the Mailjet UI
  • Reports you'd normally spend hours on, done before standup
Effort: An afternoon — set up auth per client
IN-HOUSE TEAM

Production agent workflows

  • Embed in your internal Codex / Cursor agents that triage Mailjet data daily
  • Combine with other MCP servers in a multi-step agent chain
  • Constrain agents to read-only roles to keep production Mailjet safe
Effort: Days — security review + role config

Limits and gotchas

  • Official MCP server — published by Mailjet themselves, so it should track product changes.
  • Fallback: the REST API works for any flow the MCP server doesn't cover.
  • Rate limits: MCP calls count against your underlying Mailjet API quota. Burst usage from a curious agent can drain a daily allowance fast.
5/10

Agent-readiness verdict

The easiest local email MCP to get running, with decent coverage of contacts, campaigns and segmentation. Its limits are the ones every stdio server has: a credential in a config file and a per-machine install.

Strong agent-fit for email workflows. Mailjet offers an official MCP server, documented public API, and support across 6 SDK languages (PHP, Ruby, Python, C#, Java, Node), making it straightforward to integrate into Claude and Cursor pipelines. The main limitation is lack of OpenAPI specs and structured outputs, which would require manual schema definition for complex agent tasks.
