Recommendation

Which plan should you choose?

+
StarterSolo creator managing one Instagram and TikTok account

One social set covers 8 profiles, which is plenty for a single brand across a few platforms, and 30 posts/profile/month is enough for daily posting on one or two channels.

+
GrowthSmall agency handling 2-3 client brands

Two social sets and two user seats let you split work across a small team, and the social inbox plus approval workflows matter once clients are reviewing content before it goes live.

+
ScaleAgency managing 6+ brands with reporting needs

Unlimited posts, 48 profiles, and Brand Health/Mentions tracking justify the $110 (or $82.50 annual) price if you're regularly reporting on competitive positioning, not just scheduling posts.

+
Starter (trial first)Budget-conscious solo marketer testing social scheduling

With no free plan, the 14-day trial is your only way to confirm the 30 posts/profile/month and 5 AI credits actually fit your workflow before committing to $25/mo.

Editorial

My take on Later pricing

Joonas Rotko

Later's pricing page defaults to the annual toggle, which is a classic move. Land on the page and you see $18.75, not the $25 you'd actually pay month-to-month. That's not dishonest, it's disclosed if you look, but it's the kind of thing that trips people up when the first invoice arrives.

The jump from Starter to Growth ($25 to $50, or $18.75 to $37.50 annually) buys you real functionality: a social inbox, approval workflows, and UGC collection, not just more posting volume. That's a meaningful line to draw, and it means Starter users who need to reply to comments in-app or run client approvals will hit a wall fast.

Where this gets tricky is AI credits. Starter gives you 5 per month, which barely covers a handful of AI-assisted captions or hashtag suggestions. Even Growth's 50 credits and Scale's 100 aren't huge if you're leaning on AI generation daily. Later doesn't publish what happens when you run out, so budget for that being a real limitation, not just fine print.

One thing worth naming clearly for the AI-stack angle: nothing in the plan notes mentions an API or MCP server for Later. If you're trying to build automated posting workflows with agents or scripts rather than clicking through a dashboard, that's a gap you should check directly with Later before buying, not assume exists because other social tools in this space, like Ayrshare with its Ayrshare MCP server, have built that in.

Pay yearly and every plan drops 25%: Starter goes from $25 to $18.75/mo, Growth from $50 to $37.50/mo, and Scale from $110 to $82.50/mo.

Verdict

Is Later Worth the Price?

Later sits in an awkward middle zone. It's more expensive than pure scheduling tools like Buffer or Publer at the entry tier, but it's not trying to be just a scheduler.

The influencer and creator-matching layer is the differentiator, and if you actually use that feature, the $25 to $50/mo range starts to look reasonable compared to running a separate influencer platform on top of your scheduler.

If you only need to queue posts across a few channels, the AI credit caps and per-profile limits on Starter will feel restrictive fast, and tools like WoopSocial or bundle.social may cover that use case for less.

Compare that head-to-head in our bundle.social vs Ayrshare breakdown if you want a sense of how flat-rate social tools stack up on price. Later makes more sense once you're managing multiple brands or running creator partnerships and need the inbox, approvals, and benchmarking that show up starting at Growth.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Later dropped its free tier and now starts at $25/mo (monthly) for Starter, or $18.75/mo if you commit to annual billing. There's a 14-day free trial to test the platform before you pay.

Later has three tiers: Starter at $25/mo, Growth at $50/mo, and Scale at $110/mo, all billed monthly. Paying annually cuts each of those by 25%, bringing them to $18.75, $37.50, and $82.50/mo respectively.

Yes, by 25% on every plan. The catch is that Later's pricing page defaults to showing the annual rate first, so the $25/$50/$110 monthly prices are easy to miss unless you toggle the billing switch yourself.

AI credits are Later's usage allowance for AI-assisted features like caption or content generation. Starter includes 5 per month, Growth includes 50, and Scale includes 100. None of the plans specify what happens once you run out, so treat that as a gap to confirm directly with Later.

No. Later has no refund policy listed. The 14-day free trial is the only way to evaluate the platform risk-free before your card gets charged.

Growth doubles your social sets (2 vs 1) and profiles (16 vs 8), adds a second user seat, and unlocks the social inbox, approval workflows, and UGC collection tools that Starter doesn't have. It also extends analytics history from 3 months to 1 year.

Growth and Scale plans support add-ons, according to Later's plan notes, but Starter does not allow any add-ons. If you're on Starter and need more than 8 profiles or a second user, you'll need to upgrade rather than add capacity piecemeal.
