Majestic Pricing: $49.99/mo Lite to $399.99/mo for Full API Access

Majestic runs three tiers, and the jump between them is steep: $49.99/month for Lite, $99.99/month for Pro, and $399.99/month if you want the API. There's no free plan and no free trial, just a 7-day money-back guarantee on the two cheaper tiers.

Recommendation

Which plan should you choose?

+
LiteFreelance SEOs checking backlinks for a handful of clients

1 million analysis units and Site Explorer cover manual link audits without paying for reporting tools you won't touch.

+
ProAgencies comparing multiple client domains

Compare Sites and Custom Reports are built for exactly this, and the jump to 20 million units gives more room before you hit limits.

+
APITeams building backlink data into internal tools

This is the only tier with Full API access and OpenApps, but budget for $399.99/month with no refund option if it doesn't fit your workflow.

+
Lite or Pro plus the community MCP serverAnyone wanting AI-agent access without the API price tag

The MCP integration lets you query Majestic from Claude or ChatGPT without paying for the $399.99/month API tier, though it's community-maintained and can lag the product.

My take on Majestic pricing

The gap between Pro and API is the story here. You go from $99.99/month to $399.99/month, a 4x jump, just to unlock programmatic access to the same Trust Flow data you already have on Pro. Compare that to Ahrefs or Semrush, where API access is bundled into mid-tier plans or sold as metered add-ons rather than a separate $300 wall.

If you want to automate anything with Majestic's data, there's a workaround worth knowing about. Majestic has a community-built MCP server that lets you connect Claude, ChatGPT, or Claude Code directly to the platform without paying for the official API tier. It's self-hosted and can lag behind product updates since it's not built by Majestic itself, but for a lot of solo SEOs it's a cheaper path to agent-driven backlink checks than the full API plan.

If you do end up on the API tier, know that it's plain REST with documented auth and no SDK, so plan for some setup time on scheduled jobs or dashboard syncs.

The 7-day money-back guarantee only covers Lite and Pro. Once you're paying for API access, you're committed with no refund safety net, which makes it a plan you should trial-test conceptually (via the MCP route or a lower tier first) before jumping straight to $399.99/month.

Annual Billing Discount

Lite drops to $41.67/mo and Pro drops to $83.33/mo when billed annually. The API plan doesn't get a discount either way.

Verdict

Is Majestic Worth the Price?

For manual backlink research, Lite and Pro are priced in line with specialist SEO tools; you're not overpaying for what's included. The problem is what happens the moment you need automation. Paying $399.99/month just to unlock API access, with no annual discount and no money-back guarantee, is a real barrier if you're a solo operator or small agency trying to pipe backlink data into a dashboard.

Teams with an established need for programmatic Trust Flow data and the budget to match will find the API tier does what it says. Anyone earlier in that journey is better served starting on Lite or Pro and testing the community MCP server before committing to the top tier.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

No. Majestic doesn't offer a free plan or a free trial. The cheapest way in is the Lite plan at $49.99/month (monthly billing) or $41.67/month billed annually.

Lite covers the basics: Fresh Index, Site Explorer, Trust Flow, and Topical Trust Flow with 1 million analysis units. Pro adds Historic Index, Custom Reports, Compare Sites, Clique Hunter, and Author Explorer, plus bumps you to 20 million analysis units for $99.99/month (or $83.33/month annually).

The API plan costs $399.99/month, roughly 4x the Pro price, because it's the only tier with Full API access, the ability to create OpenApps, 100 million analysis units, and 5 user seats. There's no annual discount on this tier and no money-back guarantee, unlike Lite and Pro.

Only on Lite and Pro, and only within 7 days as a new customer. The API plan has no money-back guarantee at all, so it's worth testing your workflow on a lower tier or via the community MCP server before upgrading.

Yes. Majestic has a community-built MCP server that lets you connect assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, or Claude Code directly to the platform. It's self-hosted and maintained outside Majestic, so it can lag behind product changes, but it's a lower-cost alternative to the $399.99/month API tier for basic automation needs.

No. The API is a documented REST API with standard authentication, but there's no official SDK. Developers will be making plain HTTP calls, which is fine for scheduled jobs or custom dashboards but adds setup time compared to tools with prebuilt SDKs.

Analysis units are Majestic's usage currency, capping how much you can query across features like Site Explorer and Historic Index. Lite includes 1 million units, Pro includes 20 million, and API includes 100 million, so heavier usage pushes you toward the pricier tiers regardless of feature needs.
