Email Marketing pricing at your contact count

Use my pricing calculator to see how Benchmark Email compares with other Email Marketing software at the contact count you actually need. Every tool here is priced at the same volume, which is the comparison a vendor’s own pricing page cannot make. Benchmark Email gets relatively more expensive as you scale: it is #3 of 24 at 100 and #2 of 5 at 100,000, so the cheapest option at your size may not be the cheapest at your next one.

contacts

At 500 contacts, Benchmark Email costs Free/mo on Free, which is #3 of 24 in Email Marketing. Mailchimp, the most-reviewed option here, costs $27/mo at the same volume.

Priced in another currency, so listed separately rather than ranked:

The vendor’s own price is on the left. The dollar figure is my conversion at rates taken on 2026-08-06, shown only to give a sense of scale. These vendors do not set their dollar price by converting, so the approximation is not what you would be charged and is not used for ranking.

Some tools do not publish a price at exactly 500 contacts. Those show the next tier up, which is what you would actually pay: EmailOctopus at 2,500, Flodesk at 1,000, beehiiv at 2,500, Loops at 1,000, Sender at 2,500, Buttondown at 1,000.

Benchmark Email charges beyond the plan price

These are optional, but they are the charges that move a plan price once you are running.

Each median is the middle price of the cheapest plan covering that level, across the 36 Email Marketing tools on this site. Tools that publish no price at a level are excluded from that row rather than estimated, which is why coverage varies. “Most reviewed” uses combined third-party review counts as a stand-in for popularity. Editorial

My take on Benchmark Email pricing

Joonas Rotko
Joonas RotkoAuthor & founder of That Marketing Buddy

Benchmark Email's pricing is refreshingly straightforward but reveals some limitations. The $19 starting price for Pro puts it in mid-range territory, but you're getting basic email marketing without automation or advanced features that competitors include at similar price points.

The free plan is actually quite generous with 500 contacts and 2,500 monthly emails. That's enough for most small businesses to get started. The jump to Pro gives you more contacts and removes branding, but the $15 per additional user adds up quickly for teams. At $39 for 5,000 contacts, you're paying premium prices for what feels like basic functionality.

Hidden Costs

What the pricing page doesn't tell you

1

Additional users cost $15/month each

Pro plans include 1 user, but additional users cost $15 per month each. Maximum of 10 users allowed on Pro plans. Free plan users must upgrade to a paid plan before adding any additional users.

2

Send limits based on contact count multiplier

Free plans can send maximum 2,500 emails per month (5x their 500 contact limit). Pro plans can send up to 10x their contact limit per month, meaning higher contact tiers have proportionally higher send limits.

3

Contact limit overage requires upgrade notification

When you exceed your contact limit, Benchmark notifies you and requires you to upgrade your plan to continue sending. They won't auto-upgrade but you must take action to avoid service interruption.

Verdict

Is Benchmark Email Worth the Price?

Benchmark Email charges mid-range prices for basic functionality. The free plan is useful for small lists (up to 500 contacts), and Pro pricing scales reasonably with contact count: $19/month at 1,000 contacts, $37 at 2,500, $93 at 10,000, $299 at 50,000. The catch is what Pro does NOT include.

The NXG platform removed automation workflows, A/B testing, and sign-up forms (features Benchmark Classic had). At $37/month for 2,500 contacts with no automation, you are paying more than Moosend ($9/month) and MailerLite ($10/month) for less capability. Benchmark earns its price only if the email builder and AI subject-line tools cover your full use case and you do not need behavioral automation.

Otherwise the same money buys more elsewhere.
