Email Marketing pricing at your contact count

Use my pricing calculator to see how AWeber compares with other Email Marketing software at the contact count you actually need. Every tool here is priced at the same volume, which is the comparison a vendor’s own pricing page cannot make.

contacts

At 500 contacts, AWeber costs $25/mo on Lite, which is #16 of 24 in Email Marketing. Mailchimp, the most-reviewed option here, costs $27/mo at the same volume.

Priced in another currency, so listed separately rather than ranked:

The vendor’s own price is on the left. The dollar figure is my conversion at rates taken on 2026-08-06, shown only to give a sense of scale. These vendors do not set their dollar price by converting, so the approximation is not what you would be charged and is not used for ranking.

Some tools do not publish a price at exactly 500 contacts. Those show the next tier up, which is what you would actually pay: EmailOctopus at 2,500, Flodesk at 1,000, beehiiv at 2,500, Loops at 1,000, Sender at 2,500, Buttondown at 1,000.

What else you pay

AWeber charges beyond the plan price

One of these is effectively unavoidable, so the plan price on its own understates what AWeber costs.

Setup fee (discounted from $599)Unavoidable$79 one-time

Read from AWeber’s own pricing page. Where a charge is listed without an amount, the vendor prices it by destination or usage rather than publishing a single rate, so it is shown as charged separately rather than estimated here.

Each median is the middle price of the cheapest plan covering that level, across the 36 Email Marketing tools on this site. Tools that publish no price at a level are excluded from that row rather than estimated, which is why coverage varies. “Most reviewed” uses combined third-party review counts as a stand-in for popularity. These are list prices before overage, add-ons and seat charges.

Recommendation

Which plan should you choose?

+
LiteSolo Creators with Small Lists

The Lite plan at $12.49/month (annual) covers the basics: one email list, 3 landing pages, 3 automations, and the full email builder. A freelance illustrator with 500 subscribers who sends a weekly portfolio showcase does not need more. The 24/7 support is included even at this tier, which Moosend and Sender do not offer on their cheapest plans.

+
PlusGrowing Businesses with Multiple Lists

The Plus plan removes all limits: unlimited lists, automations, landing pages, and users. At $19.99/month (annual), the value jump from Lite is significant. A fitness coaching business managing separate lists for online courses, in-person classes, and merchandise benefits from the unlimited segmentation. Priority support and branded tracking links are included.

+
Done For YouNon-Technical Users Who Need Help Setting Up

The Done For You plan makes sense if setting up email marketing feels overwhelming. For $79 one-time (promotional price, normally $599), AWeber experts build your entire system: templates, landing pages, forms, and a welcome series. A local bakery owner who would rather focus on baking than configuring email sequences gets a working system in 7 days.

Consider alternativesBudget-Conscious Beginners

AWeber does not have a free plan. If you have under 1,000 subscribers and budget is tight, MailerLite offers a free tier with automation included, and Kit covers up to 10,000 subscribers free. Start there and evaluate AWeber when you need its deliverability and support advantages.

Scaling Costs

How much as you grow?

AWeber uses contact-based pricing. Here's how costs change as your list grows.

On the Plus plan, AWeber ranges from $30/mo at 500 contacts to $750/mo at 100,000 contacts. That's a 25.0x increase.

contactsLitePlus
500$15$30
1,000$25$45

5,000$60$90
10,000$100$135

Buddy's Take

On the Plus plan, going from 500 to 100,000 contacts is a 25.0x price jump ($30 to $750/mo). Budget for this. Contact-based pricing always catches people off guard.

Editorial

My take on AWeber pricing

Joonas Rotko
Joonas RotkoAuthor & founder of That Marketing Buddy

AWeber's pricing is fair but not competitive. The Lite plan at $12.49/month is reasonable for what you get, but competitors like Moosend ($9/month with better automation) and MailerLite ($10/month with a free plan) offer more for less.

The Plus plan at $19.99/month (annual) is where AWeber makes sense. Unlimited everything, priority phone support, and the ability to remove branding. The annual discount is significant at 33%, making the Plus plan worth committing to if you know you will stick with AWeber.

The Done For You service at $79 is a smart move for non-technical users. Having experts build your entire email system is a time-saver that few competitors match at this price point. Hidden Costs

What the pricing page doesn't tell you

1

Email sending limits based on subscriber volume

Plus plan allows 12x subscriber volume monthly sends, while Lite plan only allows 10x subscriber volume monthly sends. This means if you have 1,000 subscribers, Plus allows 12,000 emails per month while Lite only allows 10,000 emails per month.

2

Done For You plan has $79 setup fee

The Done For You plan costs $20/month but includes a $79 setup fee (reduced from $599). This setup fee is in addition to the monthly subscription cost.

3

Higher transaction fees on Lite plan

AWeber Ecommerce transaction fees are 1.0% on the Lite plan compared to 0.6% on Plus and Done For You plans. This means selling products through email costs more on the cheapest plan.

4

Web push notification subscriber limits on Lite

Lite plan is limited to 50,000 web push notification subscribers and sends, while Plus and Done For You plans have unlimited web push notifications.

5

Severe feature restrictions on Lite plan

Lite plan is limited to 1 email list, 3 landing pages, 3 email automations, 3 users, and 1 custom segment. Plus and Done For You plans offer unlimited versions of these features.

At the promotional price of $79 (normally $599), it is good value if you are not comfortable setting up email marketing yourself. You get a branded template, landing pages, welcome series, and a 1:1 call. The 30-day unlimited edit window gives you time to refine everything.

Moosend is cheaper: $9/month for 500 subscribers with automation included, versus AWeber Lite at $12.49/month with limited automations. Moosend also includes more advanced automation at the base tier.
