Bolta.ai MCP Server

Yes. Bolta's MCP reaches past scheduling into voice profiles, content loops and team reviews, so an agent can run the approval workflow and not just the calendar.

What is the Bolta.ai MCP server?

Bolta runs an MCP server at https://mcp.bolta.ai/mcp, authenticated with an API key as a Bearer header under a single mcp scope. The server publishes OAuth protected-resource metadata identifying itself as "Bolta MCP", and an unauthenticated handshake returns a clean 401, confirming it is live and gated.

Per Bolta's own documentation the server covers post creation, scheduling, publishing, account management, content loops, media upload, analytics, voice profiles and team reviews. The last three are the interesting part: most social MCPs stop at scheduling, while voice profiles and team reviews reach into the parts of the workflow that decide whether a post is any good before it goes out.

Documentation is thin beyond that. Bolta describes the capability areas in its llms.txt but does not publish a tool inventory, a setup guide or plan requirements, so the exact tool names and any tier gating are not verifiable from outside an account.

Access, auth, and limits

Auth is an API key sent as a Bearer header, with a single mcp scope. One coarse scope means there is no way to grant read without also granting write, so an agent that can read your analytics can also publish. Scope that by which key you issue and what the account behind it can do, not by the connection.

Bolta describes the server as Claude-compatible and aimed at developers and agents working with workspaces programmatically. What is not published anywhere is which plans include MCP access, so that is worth settling before it factors into a purchase.

How to connect Bolta.ai MCP to Claude Desktop

Add this block to ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json (macOS) or %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json (Windows), then restart Claude Desktop. Cursor and Codex use a similar schema.

Does Bolta.ai MCP cost extra?

Included with subscription

Bolta.ai ships an official MCP server that uses your existing subscription credentials.

  • No separate MCP licence to buy. You pay for your Bolta.ai plan, the MCP server queries that account.
  • Whether it's gated to a specific tier wasn't extracted automatically — verify the access requirements on the MCP page or pricing docs.

Bolta.ai also publishes a REST API

Bolta.ai publishes an API, but per-tier gating wasn't extracted automatically.

What you can do with Bolta.ai from an AI agent

Three shapes of agent workflow. Pick the row that matches how you actually use Claude / Cursor / Codex day to day.

INDIE / SOLO

Skip the dashboard, ask Claude

  • "What changed this week?" answered in seconds
  • Quick one-off questions without leaving the editor
  • Pipe Bolta.ai data into your personal notes / docs without writing a script
Effort: 30 seconds — paste the config, restart Claude
AGENCY

Run client analysis at agent speed

  • Hand the MCP server to your team — every consultant can ask Claude about any client's Bolta.ai account
  • Multi-account workflows without context-switching the Bolta.ai UI
  • Reports you'd normally spend hours on, done before standup
Effort: An afternoon — set up auth per client
IN-HOUSE TEAM

Production agent workflows

  • Embed in your internal Codex / Cursor agents that triage Bolta.ai data daily
  • Combine with other MCP servers in a multi-step agent chain
  • Constrain agents to read-only roles to keep production Bolta.ai safe
Effort: Days — security review + role config

Limits and gotchas

  • Official MCP server — published by Bolta.ai themselves, so it should track product changes.
  • Fallback: the REST API works for any flow the MCP server doesn't cover.
  • Rate limits: MCP calls count against your underlying Bolta.ai API quota. Burst usage from a curious agent can drain a daily allowance fast.
6/10

Agent-readiness verdict

A broader surface than the category norm, particularly around voice and review workflows, but documented only at the level of capability areas. Confirm the tool list and tier access with Bolta before building on it.

Moderate agent-fit with official MCP support. Bolta.ai has a public API with docs and an official MCP server, which enables Claude and Cursor workflows for video-to-clips automation. The lack of OpenAPI specs, SDKs, and structured outputs means you'll need to build custom parsing logic around its API responses.
