Email Marketing pricing at your contact count

Use my pricing calculator to see how Sender compares with other Email Marketing software at the contact count you actually need. Every tool here is priced at the same volume, which is the comparison a vendor’s own pricing page cannot make.

contacts

At 500 contacts, Sender costs Free/mo on Free Forever, which is #6 of 24 in Email Marketing. Mailchimp, the most-reviewed option here, costs $27/mo at the same volume.

Priced in another currency, so listed separately rather than ranked:

The vendor’s own price is on the left. The dollar figure is my conversion at rates taken on 2026-08-06, shown only to give a sense of scale. These vendors do not set their dollar price by converting, so the approximation is not what you would be charged and is not used for ranking.

Some tools do not publish a price at exactly 500 contacts. Those show the next tier up, which is what you would actually pay: EmailOctopus at 2,500, Flodesk at 1,000, beehiiv at 2,500, Loops at 1,000, Sender at 2,500, Buttondown at 1,000.

Sender charges beyond the plan price

These are optional, but they are the charges that move a plan price once you are running.

Read from Sender’s own pricing page. Where a charge is listed without an amount, the vendor prices it by destination or usage rather than publishing a single rate, so it is shown as charged separately rather than estimated here.

Each median is the middle price of the cheapest plan covering that level, across the 36 Email Marketing tools on this site. Tools that publish no price at a level are excluded from that row rather than estimated, which is why coverage varies. “Most reviewed” uses combined third-party review counts as a stand-in for popularity. These are list prices before overage, add-ons and seat charges.

Recommendation

Which plan should you choose?

+
Free ForeverComplete Beginners

The free-forever plan gives you a genuine starting point with enough contacts and email sends to run your first campaigns at no cost. Sender's free tier includes automation features that many competitors reserve for paid plans, so you can test triggered sequences without spending money. For beginners learning email marketing fundamentals, this provides hands-on experience without any financial risk. Upgrade to Standard when you need higher contact limits, more sends, or want to remove Sender branding from emails.

+
StandardSmall Businesses

Standard at $7/month is one of the cheapest paid email plans available, providing increased sending limits and additional features beyond the free tier. The low price point makes it accessible for small businesses that want professional email marketing without a significant monthly expense. For businesses that have outgrown the free plan but do not need advanced automation, Standard covers the essentials reliably. Move to Professional when you need advanced automation capabilities or higher sending limits for growing campaigns.

+
ProfessionalEstablished Companies

Professional adds advanced automation and higher sending limits for businesses that run complex email campaigns. The expanded automation capabilities support multi-step conditional sequences and behavioral triggers that drive revenue. For companies where email is a primary sales and communication channel, the advanced features help optimize campaign performance over time. If your email strategy is relatively straightforward, Standard provides enough capability at a lower cost.

Scaling Costs

How much as you grow?

Sender uses contact-based pricing. Here's how costs change as your list grows.

On the Professional plan, Sender ranges from $20/mo at 1,000 contacts to $1660/mo at 200,000 contacts. That's a 83.0x increase.

contactsStandardProfessional
1,000$10$20
15,000$87$200
35,000$167$340
60,000$277$540
100,000$367$860
200,000$697$1660

Buddy's Take

On the Professional plan, going from 1,000 to 200,000 contacts is a 83.0x price jump ($20 to $1660/mo). Budget for this. Contact-based pricing always catches people off guard.

Editorial

My take on Sender pricing

Joonas Rotko
Joonas RotkoAuthor & founder of That Marketing Buddy

Sender's $7/month starting price is among the lowest in the email marketing space. The free plan with basic features gives you a genuine way to test the platform, and the Standard plan adds multichannel automation (email + SMS) at a price where most competitors only offer email. For small businesses watching every dollar, that value matters.

The transparency gap is Sender's main weakness. Professional and Enterprise plans show "Custom" pricing, which makes it impossible to plan costs as you scale. Compare with Moosend at $9/month (also unlimited sends but transparent pricing) or MailerLite at $10/month (more features, published pricing at every tier).

Sender fits small businesses and startups that need basic email and SMS marketing on a tight budget. The free plan and low-cost Standard tier cover the fundamentals. If you are building an email list from scratch and cost is the primary concern, Sender is worth testing alongside its budget-friendly competitors.

Hidden Costs

What the pricing page doesn't tell you

1

SMS credits charged separately on Standard plan

The Standard plan includes SMS messaging, but if you exceed your included SMS allowance or need additional SMS credits, you must purchase them separately. SMS pricing varies by destination country and is charged per message sent.

2

Automatic tier upgrade billing if limits exceeded

If you exceed your monthly sending limit and reach another pricing tier, you'll be automatically charged at the higher tier level on or before your next billing date. This happens even if the billing term ends before the payment is due.

3

No refunds policy with strict exceptions

Refunds are only provided if Sender terminates services without cause before the end of a paid year. No refunds are given for account suspensions due to policy violations, unused/partially used plans, wrong plan purchases, immediate cancellations after billing, or forgetting to cancel subscriptions.

4

Prepaid email credits expire after 12 months of inactivity

Purchased email credits remain in your account as long as it's active, but if your account shows no activity for 12 months, it may be considered inactive and your email credits may expire.

5

VAT not included in displayed prices

VAT is excluded from all displayed prices and varies by country (ranging from 5% to 25%). For example, Germany has 19% VAT while France has 20% VAT, which will be added to your final bill.

6

Dedicated IP only available for Professional plan with 20,000+ subscribers

Dedicated IP addresses are available for Professional plan accounts with 20,000 subscribers or above, provided at no additional cost upon request. Lower-tier plans and smaller subscriber counts use shared IP addresses.

Verdict

Is Sender Worth the Price?

Sender delivers functional email and SMS marketing at rock-bottom prices. The $7/month entry point is hard to beat, and the free plan reduces risk. The main limitation is pricing opacity on higher tiers and fewer advanced features than platforms charging 2-3x more. It is a solid budget option for basic needs.
