View product →What an agency stack actually costs
Most real Semrush stacks are larger than the base plan. The new Pro+ at $248.17/month (annual) is the practical agency starting point, SEO ($117.33) is too limited for client work and Advanced ($455.67) jumps to API-grade pricing. A 3-person Pro+ team adds 2 extra users at $80/mo each (+$160), one Pro Report add-on ($20), and Lead Generation ($90 if doing agency partner work) = $518/month for the core stack. Then product lines stack on top: AI Visibility ($99/mo per domain) for 2 client domains adds $198, Local ($30/loc) on 5 client locations adds $150. Real-world: a small agency using Pro+ + 2 users + AI Visibility on 3 domains + Local on 5 locations + Content lands around $1,008/month, about 4x the headline plan price. Annual billing saves ~17% on plans, nothing on add-ons or product lines. Enterprise is fully custom and requires annual commitment.
Recommendation
Which plan should you choose?
The SEO plan at $117.33/month annual ($139.95 monthly) covers the basics, 5 websites, 500 daily keywords, Position Tracking, Site Audit, and core keyword research. No AI visibility tracking and no API. It is enough for individual projects but agencies will outgrow it fast.
Pro+ at $248.17/month annual ($299 monthly) is the practical agency starting point. 15 websites, 1,500 daily keywords, AI Visibility on 1 domain with 100 prompts/day, historical SEO data, keyword cannibalization analysis, multi-location and multi-device tracking, plus MCP access. The popular tier and the one most active agencies sit on.
Advanced at $455.67/month annual ($549 monthly) is the only plan with direct API access, required for custom dashboards, scheduled jobs, and pulling Semrush data into internal pipelines. Also unlocks 40 websites, 5,000 daily keywords, SEO share of voice, and 200 AI visibility prompts/day.
For teams whose main need is tracking brand visibility in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI search, Pro+ includes AI Visibility on 1 domain. For multiple domains, add the standalone AI Visibility product at $99/month per domain. Content marketers also benefit from keyword cannibalization analysis and historical data on Pro+.
Semrush pricing starts at $117.33/month for the SEO plan on annual billing, and a 7-day free trial plus a limited free plan are available to test the platform. For ongoing budget-conscious use, more affordable platforms like SE Ranking, Mangools, or Keysearch cover core keyword research and rank tracking at a fraction of the cost. Semrush becomes more justifiable once SEO work generates enough revenue to absorb the premium.
Editorial
My take on Semrush pricing

Semrush earns its premium through sheer comprehensiveness. The platform covers keyword research, site auditing, competitor analysis, content marketing, social media, and PPC research under one roof. No single competitor matches the breadth. For agencies managing multiple client campaigns, having everything in one platform reduces tool sprawl and context switching.
The entry price of $139/month is 3-5x higher than capable alternatives like SE Ranking ($65/month) or Mangools ($38/month). These tools cover the core SEO functionality that most businesses actually use. Paying for Semrush only makes sense if you consistently use features those alternatives do not offer.
Semrush is the right choice for agencies and in-house SEO teams with the budget to match its capabilities. For freelancers, bloggers, and small businesses, the cost is difficult to justify when alternatives cover 80% of the feature set at 30% of the price. The 7-day free trial helps, but that is a short window to evaluate a platform this deep.

Verdict
Is Semrush Worth the Price?
Semrush is the most powerful SEO platform available, and the pricing reflects that position. The value is strongest for agencies and teams who leverage its full feature breadth across SEO, content, and advertising. For focused SEO work (keyword research, rank tracking, audits), more affordable tools deliver comparable results.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, Semrush has a limited free plan: 1 website to monitor, 10 keywords in Position Tracking, and up to 10 Analytics report requests per day. Most real workflows hit those limits fast, but the free tier is enough to test the interface and basic reports before committing to a paid plan.
Yes. Monthly billing is available on all paid plans but costs significantly more, annual billing saves ~17% on the headline plan price (e.g., SEO is $139.95 monthly or $117.33/month billed annually).
Yes, Semrush offers a 7-day free trial on paid plans. A credit card is required but you won't be charged until the trial ends. Cancel before then to avoid the first billing cycle.
Advanced is the only plan with direct API access (Pro+ has MCP but no REST API). Advanced also lifts limits: 40 websites vs 15, 5,000 daily keywords vs 1,500, 200 AI visibility prompts/day vs 100, plus SEO share of voice and higher report budgets. If you need direct API integration into custom dashboards or pipelines, Advanced is the entry point.
No hidden fees on the base plans, but add-ons and separate products stack on top, Additional Users ($45-$100/mo per seat), Lead Generation ($90/mo), Base Report ($10/mo), Pro Report ($20/mo), plus standalone products like AI Visibility ($99/mo per domain), Traffic & Market ($289/mo), Local ($30/mo per location), Content ($60/mo), and Social (from $20/mo). Budget realistically: an active agency stack often lands 2-3x the headline plan price.
Yes, plan upgrades take effect immediately and downgrades take effect at the next billing cycle. Contact Semrush support for prorated billing adjustments or grandfathered legacy plan questions.
Semrush doesn't advertise a standard money-back guarantee on paid subscriptions, but the 7-day free trial functions as the risk-free test period. Cancel before the trial ends and you are not charged. After billing starts, refund requests are case-by-case via support.
